Does the fact that Mitt Romney is a Mormon effect your approval/disapproval of him?

I thought to get this blog started off I would post the above question being that we are in the throws of an election season. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints I have been somewhat amused at what is being said both good and bad in the media about Romney's Mormonism. I wont quote them here, we have all seen and heard them. What I would like to know is how you feel.

Let me first state my political views, I have fiscal and social conservative views (surprise). I am not a hard-line Republican, I believe in the freedom to choose, so not all of my views are held by any single party. I vote my conscience and not along party lines. That being said, I also do not vote based on a persons religious views either. So when I ask the question, "Does the fact that Mitt Romney is a Mormon effect your approval/disapproval of him?," I would have to say emphatically no! Wether he is or isn't does not effect my views. My choices will be based on who I think will be best for the country and who closer represents my own value system, Is that Mitt? I don't know yet... I am continuing my research.

The purpose of this blog is not to get into political rhetoric or bash any of the candidates, I would like an honest discussion on the topic at hand. What is your opinion?

My answer to your question is yes and no. I am a Mormon and yes the fact that he is a Mormon does appeal to me and make him stand out a little more to me, but I like you am still undecided. I don't know that I can say with conviction that the he is the best man for the job. I am still battling that question out in my mind. I don't think anyone's religious affiliation should be qualification enough for anyone's vote.
